Five Cooling Springs Near Ocala

Even though the fall is approaching, there are still some hot days coming up. At these five springs near Ocala, you can cool off and enjoy nature.

1. Alexander Springs

Located in Ocala National Forest, this spring has a sloped pool that makes it seem more like an amusement park attraction than a natural spring. It does tend to get very busy in the summertime.

2. Juniper Springs

If you make your way to Silver Springs, you can find Juniper Springs. It was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and has a lot of history. There’s an old mill house that makes its own energy for the park. Large trees give you ample shade.

3. Salt Springs

According to the National Forest Service, this spring is one of Ocala National Forest’s “recreational jewels.” You can view some otters and blue crabs while you enjoy the water.

However, a deep drop off makes it a dangerous place for young children.

4. Silver Glen Springs

If you’re a boater, you’ll enjoy this spring. You can pull your boat near the swimming area and hop in. As it’s completely natural, there are no walls. On holidays, this spot can get very popular.

5. Rainbow Springs

As the fourth largest spring in Marion County, you’ve probably heard of Rainbow Springs. It’s fun for the whole family.
